A blazer-wearing American woman is back to her ‘original’ style
An American woman in Israel has created a new style of dress, with the help of her oversize over-the-top blazer.
Diana Farrar, 32, from Philadelphia, said she has been trying to recreate her look for the past two years.
She started wearing a blazer and pants to work in 2010.
“I’m not a big fan of big skirts or long dresses,” she said, adding that she wanted to show off her curves.
“When I first started, I was just wearing shorts, and now I’m wearing a skirt and a blazers,” Farrars said.
“I was actually wearing shorts on the weekends before I started doing this.”
“When you wear this, it’s like you’re trying to get back into the way that you were before,” she added.
The dress, which Farrs has nicknamed the “overall gown”, is made from sheer, tulle-like material.
The top part is fitted to the top of the dress, while the bottom part is pulled over the back and top.
The over-size dress has been a hit with her coworkers, who she said are impressed by her decision to ditch the blazer in favour of a blouse.
“They’re all very appreciative,” she told AFP.
“It’s like a dress I made for myself, which is a bit like a mini-dress, but it’s much better than wearing a dress,” Fars added.
She said her style is based on “a sort of ’90s thing”.
“I like to dress in the same way as everyone else, so I wear my over-sized blazer, and I have the same over-large skirt,” she explained.
The outfit also features a pleated blazer with a button up, a long, thin white dress with pleated cuffs, a black blazer over a blue skirt, and a long black belt.
“The dress has a bit of a ’70s look to it,” Fardar said.
“People are always saying, ‘You look like you just spent the weekend in Vegas.'”
The fashion phenomenon has attracted a large following online.
“My dress has received a lot of love, and it’s one of the most popular dresses I’ve ever made,” Farshar said, referring to a style popular in the ’90es.
“And my friends are saying it’s perfect for their own outfits,” she continued.
“It’s a great way to show your personality.
I’ve even had people come up to me and tell me how they like my dress.”
