“Flamboyant” star wears flapper skirt
By TOM GAUZEYER NEW YORK — “Fluorescent” star Miley Cyrus, who was in New York on Wednesday to promote her new book, was photographed wearing a flapper’s skirt and flip-flops, a new image shows.
Cyrus wore the costume at a party in New Jersey on Wednesday night with her sister, 19-year-old Malia and her boyfriend, 20-year old Adam, according to a photo shared on Twitter by The Associated Press.
Malia said Cyrus wore it in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
The New York Daily News reported on Thursday that Cyrus and her sister were there for a concert in Atlantic City and were wearing flapper skirts.
She was not at the concert, the Daily News said.
Malias mom, Tiffany, was also there with her daughter.
A rep for Miley told the Associated Press that the costume was “a fun and easy fashion accessory” and not for a fashion show.
The flapper, or prom dress, is often worn by a performer or model who’s not wearing a dress.
A dress with a flamboyant skirt is worn for formal occasions, including weddings and parties.
“It is extremely flattering,” Cyrus’ rep said.
Cyrus is a New York native who moved to the United States when she was 3.
She has appeared in music videos and videos for other celebrities.
In one, she dances in a skimpy dress, but not in a revealing one.
Cyrus’ sister, Malia, is a star of the hit show “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” which is filmed in New Orleans.
She’s the daughter of rapper Jay Z, and her father, Jay, has a well-known rap record.
The AP contacted the New Jersey State Police, which said it was investigating the incident.
The Associated News has not been able to reach Cyrus for comment.
